Apple just launched a new Logic Pro feature that records even if you forget

Macworld

On Tuesday, Apple announced several new features for Logic Pro, the company’s digital audio workstation app for the Mac and iPad. The features are included in Logic Pro 11.2 for Mac and Logic Pro 2.2 for iPad, both of which are now available and free to existing users of the software. The new features include:

  • Flashback Capture: If the producer forgot to hit record for a performance, Flashback Capture can be used to recover it using a key command or custom control bar button.
  • Stem Splitter updates: Stem Splitter allows for the isolation of individual parts of a song and has been updated to support guitar and piano. Common stem variations (for example, a capella, instrumental, or instrumental with vocals) can be selected using presets. The new submix feature allows for the export of just the parts of audio a producer wants.
  • New Sound Packs: The new Dancefloor Rush sound pack for Mac and iPad features drum-and-bass sounds. On the Mac, Logic Pro has two more new sound packs: Magnetic Imperfections, which “captures the raw, unpolished essence of analog tape;” and Tosin Abasi, which “showcases progressive metal guitar with boutique amps, unique effects, distinctive picking techniques, and the artist’s signature riffs.”
  • Learn MIDI in iPad version: This feature comes to the iPad, which allows users to control MIDI devices.
  • Notepad with Writing Tools in Mac version: The Writing Tools Apple Intelligence features help with producers in the creative process.
  • Search and select in Mac version: This makes it easy to find and choose tracks by name of track number.

Logic Pro for Mac is $199.99 (one-time fee) for new users and is available in the Mac App Store. Logic Pro for iPad is $4.99 per month or $49 per year and is available in the App Store.
