AI voice startup ElevenLabs doubles valuation to $22B

Why It Matters

The transaction marks a sizable private-market reprice for a fast-growing AI firm and reflects a broader pattern of venture-stage companies using secondary offerings to give staff liquidity and help retain talent. Large institutional backers taking part also signal continued appetite for late-stage private AI assets.

Key Facts

  • Company: ElevenLabs
  • Transaction: $300 million employee tender offer
  • New valuation: $22 billion
  • Prior valuation (Feb 2026): $11 billion (after $500 million raise)
  • Transaction co-leads: Wellington and T. Rowe Price

ElevenLabs, the New York- and London-based company known for producing highly realistic synthetic human voices and sound effects, announced a $300 million secondary offering that values the startup at $22 billion. The tender lets employees sell some of their vested equity and represents a doubling of the company's valuation from the $11 billion mark it reached following a $500 million funding round in February.

The $300 million tender was co-led by Wellington Management and T. Rowe Price, institutional investors that typically back private firms with the intent to hold their positions through a public listing. ElevenLabs has previously authorized employee liquidity: in September 2025 it ran a $100 million tender valued at $6.6 billion.

Company leadership framed the offering as part of broader retention strategies common in rapidly scaling AI startups, which increasingly provide secondary liquidity to reduce turnover and keep talent from moving to competitors. The move also puts ElevenLabs among Europe's most valuable private technology companies since its launch in 2022.

TechCrunch reported that its editorial team spoke with ElevenLabs co-founder and CEO Mati Staniszewski last week. The transaction highlights continued investor interest in late-stage AI businesses and the growing role of secondary transactions in private markets.
