Anchorage expands institutional custody to Etherlink, tokenized uranium
Anchorage Digital Bank has added custody support for Etherlink and seven assets issued on that Tezos-based layer-2 network, including xU3O8 — a token tied to physical uranium. The integration lets Anchorage’s institutional clients hold Etherlink-issued tokens in segregated accounts at the federally chartered bank.

Why It Matters
The move brings a federally chartered custodian into the market for tokenized commodities, widening institutional access to assets like physical uranium and shortening settlement processes compared with traditional intermediated arrangements. That could lower barriers for investors who previously faced long settlement times and high minimums.
Key Facts

- Network supported: Etherlink (EVM-compatible layer-2 that settles on Tezos)
- Assets added: xU3O8, WXTZ (wrapped XTZ), stXTZ (liquid staking token), USDT, USDC, USDSM, WETH
- xU3O8 description: Token representing ownership of physical uranium
Anchorage Digital Bank has expanded its custody offerings to include Etherlink and seven tokens issued on the Tezos layer-2 network. The list of supported assets comprises xU3O8, wrapped XTZ (WXTZ), the liquid staking token stXTZ, three stablecoins (USDT, USDC, USDSM) and wrapped Ether (WETH). The bank said the integration enables its institutional clients to custody Etherlink-issued tokens through segregated accounts at the federally chartered institution.
Etherlink is an Ethereum Virtual Machine–compatible layer-2 that settles transactions on Tezos, and Anchorage’s support covers assets issued on that network. Among the tokens added, xU3O8 stands out because it is backed by physical uranium, providing a blockchain-based claim on the commodity without requiring direct handling or storage. CoinMarketCap data cited in the announcement put xU3O8’s market capitalization at just above $9 million at current price levels.
Anchorage is not the first institutional custodian to back Etherlink assets: the digital-asset custodian Hex Trust integrated the network in August 2025 to offer custody for xU3O8 and other Etherlink tokens. Anchorage’s addition gives customers an option to hold these assets inside accounts at a federally chartered bank, a detail the bank highlighted in its announcement.
The bank framed tokenization as a way to streamline ownership and transfers of physical commodities. According to Anchorage, exposure to uranium has historically required specialist intermediaries, long settlement windows and relatively large minimum investments; tokenized representations can be transferred and settled in minutes rather than the weeks typical of traditional processes. The new custody support therefore aims to make Etherlink-based assets more accessible to institutional investors.
