Anthropic merges Claude chat and Cowork in one interface

Anthropic has merged multiple Claude front ends into a single interface that gives users access to chat, Cowork, and Artifacts from one window. The company says the redesign eliminates the need to choose between separate tabs by automatically routing requests to the appropriate tool, and it makes Claude Design — introduced in April for website and prototype design — available throughout the workspace.

Alongside the unified interface, Anthropic added first-class support for creating slides and documents. Users can instruct the assistant to build, edit and present slide decks, and export the output as a PDF or PowerPoint file. The Docs capabilities let people collaborate with Claude to generate sections, pose questions, and leave comments on finished portions; generated files and slide decks can be shared via link and edited on mobile devices.

The update also supports cross-device workflows: tasks can be initiated on desktop and progress monitored from the mobile app. Anthropic said these capabilities will appear for Pro and Max subscribers on web, desktop and mobile over the coming weeks, with plans to bring them to the free and team tiers later.

This release follows an upgrade to Cowork’s memory layer, which helps Claude retain user context across chats. The source article also noted a wish that competitors will simplify their interfaces in response to the change.
