US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds attracted about $6.34 billion in net inflows during the third quarter, according to SoSoValue data, as Bitcoin posted a 42.71% gain over the period. That price increase marked Bitcoin's strongest third-quarter return since 2017 and its best quarterly performance since Q4 2024, per CoinGlass.
Monthly flows showed a heavy concentration in August. The funds took in $172 million in July, surged to $3.52 billion in August, and ended September with $2.65 billion in net inflows. Flows weakened toward the end of the month: ETFs recorded roughly $149 million in net outflows on the final Wednesday of September, ending a nine-day inflow streak that had accumulated about $3.1 billion.
The third-quarter influx offset about $5 billion of net outflows seen in the second quarter, signaling a substantive shift in capital direction into spot Bitcoin products. Other crypto spot ETFs also registered notable activity: US spot Ether ETFs drew about $3.05 billion in Q3 after roughly $714 million in outflows in Q2, while Ether's price rose about 71% during the quarter.
Altcoin ETF flows included $308 million into XRP funds in Q3, bringing cumulative net inflows for XRP ETFs to $1.79 billion. Solana and Zcash ETFs also reported net inflows in September, at $272 million and $246 million respectively. The data indicate broader interest across multiple crypto spot ETF products during the quarter.
