BitMart misses roadmap deadline, appoints financial adviser
BitMart named Alvarez & Marsal as its financial adviser on the self-imposed Sept. 9 deadline but did not publish the restructuring and business-resumption roadmap it had been developing. The exchange said A&M will assess assets, the company’s financial position and stakeholder issues, and that a user feedback portal will be launched within five working days with rolling updates over the next three weeks.

Why It Matters
Without an asset inventory, reserve position, recovery estimate or withdrawal timetable, customers and claimholders remain uncertain about potential recoveries; appointing a formal adviser begins a structured review of options and stakeholder claims. The review’s outcome will shape whether and how users can recover funds or the exchange can resume operations.
Key Facts
- Financial adviser appointed: Alvarez & Marsal
- Self-imposed update deadline: Sept. 9
- Roadmap status: Restructuring and business-resumption roadmap not published
- Scope of review: Evaluate assets, financial position, stakeholder issues and possible paths forward; consider proposals from third parties
- User feedback portal: To be deployed within five working days to collect user feedback on action plan and direction of the business (BitMart statement)
Cryptocurrency exchange BitMart said it appointed Alvarez & Marsal as its financial adviser on Wednesday, the self-imposed Sept. 9 deadline for an update, but stopped short of releasing the restructuring and business-resumption roadmap it had been preparing. The exchange provided no figures for assets, no estimate of recoveries and did not offer a timetable for customer withdrawals in the announcement.
Alvarez & Marsal will collaborate with BitMart’s legal advisers to assess the exchange’s assets, overall financial position, stakeholder claims and potential paths forward. BitMart said the review will also take into account proposals submitted by unspecified third parties as part of that evaluation.
To gather input from users, BitMart said it will launch a dedicated web portal within five working days where customers can provide feedback on the proposed action plan and the exchange’s future direction. The company added it will publish further updates on the feedback process and the action plan on a rolling basis over the coming three weeks.
An ad hoc committee of BitMart claimholders organized by Echo Base responded positively to the adviser appointment, calling it the most encouraging development since July. At the same time, Echo Base’s CEO Roshan Dharia criticized the announcement for introducing new deadlines without disclosing a reserve position, an asset inventory, a recovery estimate or a schedule for withdrawals. BitMart has been under scrutiny since it announced a wind-down on July 26 after users reported delays in withdrawing funds. Neither BitMart nor Alvarez & Marsal provided comments to Cointelegraph on the report.
