Bybit launches 24/7 perpetuals for major currency pairs

Why It Matters

The move brings foreign-exchange exposure into Bybit's growing TradFi derivatives offering at a time when crypto venues are increasingly providing FX-like products; global FX turnover averaged $9.6 trillion per day in April 2025, underscoring the market's scale. Competing exchanges including Kraken and BitMEX have already introduced similar forex perpetuals, signaling rising industry interest.

Key Facts

  • Exchange: Bybit (Dubai-based)
  • Product type: USDT-settled perpetual contracts
  • Currency pairs: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY
  • Trading hours: 24/7 (including when underlying FX markets are closed)
  • Leverage: Up to 100x

Bybit has added USDT-settled perpetual contracts that track three of the most traded foreign-exchange pairs: EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY. The contracts are designed to mirror price movements in those currency pairs without transferring ownership of the underlying currencies, and they do not carry an expiration date.

Traders on the new products can use leverage of up to 100x and will have profits and losses denominated in USDT. The instruments are tradable around the clock, allowing activity even when traditional FX markets are not open.

These FX perpetuals are part of Bybit’s TradFi Perpetuals suite, a product line the exchange introduced in April. Bybit says the suite has expanded to include more than 200 assets, covering equities, commodities, exchange-traded funds and pre-IPO companies.

The launch comes amid broader industry moves into forex-like derivatives: Kraken rolled out five forex perpetual futures with up to 50x leverage in April 2025, and BitMEX added six FX pairs with up to 100x leverage in April 2026. The expansion taps into the enormous foreign-exchange market, which the Bank for International Settlements reported averaged $9.6 trillion in daily over-the-counter turnover in April 2025.
