Camp Snap’s 110D gives slim retro film cameras a digital upgrade

Camp Snap has expanded its lineup of compact, screenless digital point-and-shoot cameras with the 110D, a slim horizontal model inspired by inexpensive 110 film cameras that became popular in the 1970s. The new unit is being offered for preorder at $74.95 and comes in two color schemes — “back in black” (black and gray) and “dreamsicle” (white and orange) — with matching accessories. The 110D uses an 8-megapixel Sony 1/3.2-inch CMOS sensor paired with a 4.2mm f/2.0 fixed lens. The lens accepts 30.5mm screw-on filters for users who want to experiment with wider-angle or macro attachments. Photo styling is handled in-camera through five software filters that apply vintage, analog, and black-and-white effects, selectable via a sliding switch on the body. Storage and power choices reflect the camera’s simple, kid-friendly design. Camp Snap bundles a 4GB microSD card stored behind a screw-secured door and says it can hold up to about 2,000 photos before users need to transfer files over USB-C to a phone or PC. The built-in 800mAh battery is rated for roughly 500 shots and includes an automatic sleep mode that wakes quickly with the shutter button to reduce idle drain. Additional features include a built-in flash with adjustable color temperature and a small segmented LCD on the rear that displays battery life and photo count. The 110D aims to replicate the easy, lo-fi charm of 110 film cameras — which used cartridges introduced by Kodak in 1972 and remain produced in small quantities by specialty makers like Lomography — while offering the convenience of digital capture and immediate file transfer.
