ChatGPT’s ‘Intelligent UI’ update fills its responses with pictures, charts, and buttons
OpenAI is adding an Intelligent UI feature to ChatGPT that can combine text replies with interactive visuals such as diagrams, charts, forms and tappable buttons. The update, released alongside new GPT-6 models, will roll out to users across plans this week with different GPT-6 variants available by tier.

Why It Matters
Embedding interactive tools and visuals directly in chat responses changes how users can interact with AI, turning answers into manipulable interfaces and inline utilities. The change is paired with GPT-6, which OpenAI says improves search, responsiveness and safety resistance, so it affects both presentation and underlying model behavior.
Key Facts
- Feature: Intelligent UI — interactive visuals (diagrams, charts, forms, buttons) in ChatGPT responses
- Model: Launch coincides with GPT-6 (Sol and Luna variants)
- Training: OpenAI trained GPT-6 to decide when to generate interactive visuals and how to format them
- Examples: Diagram of a seven-speed bicycle, Mahjong tile visuals and categorized scrollable lists, in-line tools like retirement calculators, retro games, bill splitters
- Rollout timing: Rolling out globally to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users starting today; Go and free tiers get access Thursday
OpenAI is introducing an Intelligent UI capability for ChatGPT that lets the assistant return responses combining text with interactive visuals — including diagrams, charts, forms and tappable buttons. According to OpenAI, the company trained GPT-6 to determine when an interactive visual is appropriate and to format those visuals inside its replies.
The Verge-provided examples show how the feature could present a diagram of a seven-speed bicycle with buttons to highlight different parts, or teach Mahjong by generating and categorizing tile visuals that users can scroll through. ChatGPT can also produce inline tools for tasks such as a retirement savings calculator, a retro-style game or a bill-splitting tool, rather than directing users to an external app or webpage.
OpenAI announced its first GPT-6 models last month and is now bringing two variants, Sol and Luna, into ChatGPT. The company said GPT-6 improves web search behavior, can provide faster partial answers while it gathers additional information, and exhibited stronger resistance to attempts to bypass its safety training in internal testing.
The Intelligent UI powered by GPT-6 is being deployed globally: Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise subscribers receive access starting today, while Go and free-tier users will gain access on Thursday. OpenAI said higher-tier subscribers will be able to use the mid-range GPT-6 Sol model, while Go and free users will receive the more efficient GPT-6 Luna.
