Crypto PAC announces support for 32 House candidates in US midterms
Fairshake, a crypto-funded political action committee backed by contributions from Coinbase, Ripple Labs and a16z, said it will support 32 House incumbents who voted for the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. The group plans to initially spend $6 million on six candidates and has signaled it could spend more than $100 million on House and Senate races ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Why It Matters
The PAC's coordinated backing ties campaign dollars to support for the CLARITY market structure bill, which failed a key Senate vote and remains unresolved, potentially shaping which legislators advance pro-crypto policy priorities. Large planned ad buys, including targeted spending in a high-profile Ohio Senate race, show the crypto industry is mobilizing substantial resources for the 2026 cycle.

Fairshake, a political action committee funded by major crypto-industry contributors including Coinbase, Ripple Labs and Andreessen Horowitz, announced it will back 32 incumbent members of the U.S. House who voted to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. The PAC said it will begin by allocating a combined $6 million toward six of those candidates and that three Republicans and three Democrats will each receive $1 million in spending ahead of the 2026 midterms.
The 32 politicians Fairshake named include both parties: 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats. Democratic recipients cited by the PAC include Representatives Janelle Bynum (OR), Derek Tran (CA) and Steven Horsford (NV); Republican recipients include French Hill (AR), Bill Huizenga (MI) and Bryan Steil (WI). Fairshake described itself as an issue-focused organization that supports pro-crypto lawmakers across party lines.
Fairshake has indicated much larger ambitions for the 2026 cycle, saying it expects to spend in excess of $100 million on House and Senate races and identifying at least $30 million toward Ohio’s Senate contest to back Republican Jon Husted over incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown. In August, the PAC reported having $122 million in cash on hand; separate tracking by Public Citizen showed Fairshake had spent $82 million on ads through June, part of an estimated $189 million flowing from crypto-aligned advocacy groups and companies.
The PAC’s targeted support is linked to the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, legislation that aimed to delineate regulatory roles for U.S. agencies overseeing digital assets. That bill failed to secure a decisive Senate vote, leaving its future uncertain as the industry increases political spending ahead of the midterm elections. Polls referenced by the source showed Democrats were favored to win majority control of both chambers in 2027, a dynamic that could shape how crypto policy is contested on the campaign trail.
