Gate bets all-in-one money app is crypto’s biggest consumer trend this year and next
Gate, a Cayman Islands-headquartered crypto exchange, has rebranded around a new consumer product called Gate Money that combines cash, crypto, stocks, gold and other assets in a single account and lets users spend from those holdings with a card. Founder and CEO Lin Han said the company is targeting mainstream consumers, particularly in Asia, and believes 'all-in-one money' or super apps will be a major crypto consumer trend in the coming year.

Why It Matters
The move puts Gate in direct competition with other exchanges and fintechs that are broadening beyond trading into everyday finance — a shift that could make crypto an ordinary feature of consumer accounts rather than a tool used mainly by traders. If successful, such products could reshape how users access and spend a mix of fiat and digital assets.

Gate has positioned itself to compete in a growing field of exchanges and fintechs that are expanding into all-in-one consumer finance apps. The exchange unveiled Gate Money, a product designed to let users hold and convert cash, cryptocurrencies, stocks, gold and other assets within a single account and then spend from those holdings via a card. Founder and CEO Lin Han framed the move as a bid to bring nonprofessional users into the platform rather than remain focused on traders. Han said Gate aims to enable conversions between asset types at any time, including when traditional stock markets are closed, but the company has not detailed how pricing or execution would work for conversions outside market hours. Gate also claims users will be able to make purchases directly from asset holdings rather than first converting to cash — an example Han gave was buying a coffee using Nvidia stock — a capability he said is not offered by any existing app today. The company, which reports about $2 billion in 24-hour trading volume and more than 60 million users, is entering a competitive landscape where peers are making similar moves. Coinbase, Binance, Bybit and Robinhood have each expanded beyond core trading to add banking, investing, derivatives, or broader consumer offerings, and Bybit and Binance have explicitly described ambitions to build super apps for their user bases. Gate sees its biggest near-term market in Asia, where Han said demand for access to U.S. stocks is high but customers can face restrictions on obtaining international brokerage accounts. He identified fintech money apps such as Revolut, Cash App and Wise as immediate competitors, while also acknowledging direct competition from other exchanges pursuing similar 'everything' account strategies. The company says it now has the technology, licensing and banking relationships to offer services that historically sat with banks and brokers.
