Israeli strike on motorcycle kills Palestinian in Gaza City, injures child

An air strike on a motorcycle in the Sheikh Radwan area west of Gaza City killed one Palestinian and wounded others on Friday, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported. Among the injured is a child in critical condition, according to the agency. The strike was one of several incidents across central Gaza on the same day.

Wafa also reported that Israeli forces opened fire in the Nuseirat and al-Bureij refugee camps in the central Gaza Strip, striking tents sheltering displaced people and causing multiple injuries. Earlier this week, a separate double-hit air strike in Gaza City killed a paramedic and a 15-year-old boy; Israeli forces said they were targeting Hamas operatives in that incident.

Palestinian authorities say at least 1,381 people have been killed by ongoing strikes since a ceasefire was announced in October 2025, and report that 73,795 people have died and 174,869 been wounded since the start of the conflict in October 2023. Humanitarian organizations have documented heavy impacts on civilians: last month UNICEF reported that, on average, one child is killed each day by Israeli strikes, and families are sheltering in roughly a third of the enclave amid destroyed buildings and uncleared waste.

Separately, the Gaza Health Ministry warned that the territory’s health system is close to "total collapse," citing strict limitations on the entry of medical supplies and fuel. The ministry said these restrictions have hampered hospitals' ability to treat the wounded and recover bodies from damaged structures, and Palestinian civil defence teams have reported difficulties using heavy equipment to retrieve those trapped under rubble.
