NEAR jumps nearly 80% in a week as Intents volume nears $30B
Near Protocol's native token NEAR climbed roughly 78% over the past week as the network rolled out expanded privacy features for trading and cross-chain swaps. The NEAR Intents system recorded about $29.3 billion in cumulative swap volume, with $842 million transacted in the prior seven days and notable activity tied to Zcash.

Why It Matters
The price surge coincided with product updates that make perpetual-futures deposits and withdrawals confidential by default and growth in Intents volume, signaling rising use of privacy-focused cross-chain trading services on Near. Those developments could shift how confidential liquidity and referral flows interact across ecosystems like Zcash.
Key Facts
- NEAR price (Monday): $4.29
- Price change: ≈78.2% over seven days; ≈22% over 24 hours
- Total crypto market change (7 days): ≈6% increase
- NEAR Intents cumulative volume: $29.3 billion
- NEAR Intents volume (7 days): $842 million
Near Protocol's token NEAR surged sharply over the past week, trading around $4.29 on Monday after climbing about 78% in seven days and roughly 22% in the prior 24 hours, according to CoinGecko. The broader cryptocurrency market cap also rose during the week, up about 6% over the same period. Near's market move accompanied product updates that emphasize transaction privacy.
On Thursday, Near announced that deposits and withdrawals for perpetual futures trading on near.com are confidential by default, a change intended to conceal the link between a trader's funding wallet and their dedicated Hyperliquid trading account. The network also reported that near.com's confidential total value locked had topped $70 million, which triggered the first snapshot under its NEAR@3.33 incentive program. That program set aside 333,333 milestone tokens for the initial distribution; those tokens convert to NEAR only when a three-day volume-weighted average price reaches at least $3.33.
NEAR Intents, the protocol's cross-chain swap request system where market makers compete to fill orders, has logged substantial activity. The NEAR Intents Explorer displayed about $29.3 billion in cumulative volume and $842 million over the prior seven days. Privacy-focused Zcash wallet ZODL ranked as the third-largest referral source by volume across the preceding 24 hours, contributing roughly $3.8 million across 458 transactions. Among the largest single swaps shown on the explorer for that window was one involving about $613,000 worth of ZEC.
Bitwise research analyst Camran Khosravi described Near and Zcash as complementary, saying Near can offer ZEC holders confidential cross-chain infrastructure and additional liquidity access, while also noting that Intents' TVL can rise if the value of assets already held (such as ZEC) increases without new deposits. Beyond trading, Near has extended privacy features to other areas: in July NEAR AI introduced staking-based payments that let users stake NEAR to obtain credits for confidential AI inference and agent hosting while keeping ownership of the underlying tokens.
