NYSE Taps Blockchain.com to Reach Crypto Investors With Tokenized Stocks
Blockchain.com and NYSE Group signed a memorandum of understanding to make tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs available to Blockchain.com users through the NYSE's planned 24/7 digital trading venue, pending any required regulatory approvals. The agreement also includes a data-sharing arrangement under which ICE Data Services will distribute Blockchain.com crypto market data and Blockchain.com will add certain NYSE and ICE feeds to its app.

Why It Matters
If implemented, the deal would link a major crypto exchange with a traditional market operator and could expand access to tokenized securities for crypto-native investors, while aligning with recent U.S. regulatory movement around trading tokenized stocks. The outcome depends on the still-unlaunched NYSE digital venue and any necessary regulatory approvals.
Key Facts
- Agreement type: Memorandum of understanding between Blockchain.com and NYSE Group
- Offered products: Tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs
- Trading venue: NYSE's planned 24/7 digital trading venue (a digital alternative trading system announced in January)
- Regulatory status: Subject to any required regulatory approvals; NYSE platform not yet live
- Data sharing: ICE Data Services to distribute Blockchain.com crypto data; Blockchain.com to add certain NYSE and ICE feeds to its app
Blockchain.com and NYSE Group have entered a memorandum of understanding to offer tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs to Blockchain.com users through the NYSE’s planned around-the-clock digital trading venue. The arrangement is conditional on any regulatory approvals required and comes while the NYSE platform remains under development and has not launched.
Tokenized stocks are blockchain-based tokens that represent shares of listed companies; proponents say they can enable fractional ownership, allow trading outside traditional market hours and permit faster, on-chain settlement. The NYSE’s digital venue is being built as a regulated alternative trading system (ATS) that would support 24/7 trading and instant on-chain settlement, according to the NYSE’s prior announcement in January.
The pact also includes cross-platform data arrangements. Intercontinental Exchange’s (ICE) data arm plans to distribute Blockchain.com’s crypto market data to its subscribers, while Blockchain.com will incorporate designated NYSE and ICE data feeds into its app. The deal would give the NYSE a channel into Blockchain.com’s user base, which the exchange said exceeds 44 million confirmed accounts across more than 70 jurisdictions.
The announcement follows recent shifts in Washington: the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission last week unveiled an "innovation exemption" aimed at allowing qualifying venues to trade tokenized U.S. stocks on public blockchains without registering as exchanges. The move comes amid broader industry activity — Blockchain.com confidentially filed for a U.S. IPO in May, and competitors such as Coinbase began offering tokenized stocks to non-U.S. users in August on its Base network. Neither Blockchain.com nor NYSE disclosed a launch date or the financial terms of their agreement.
