Pakistan captain Fatima Sana faced disciplinary action from the International Cricket Council following her team's Asia Cup group stage encounter against India. The incident occurred when Sana removed batter Shafali Verma in a caught-and-bowled dismissal during the second over of her bowling spell and made a gesture directed at the pavilion. Verma had accumulated 12 runs from six deliveries before being dismissed in this manner.

Sana's conduct violated Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which prohibits language, actions, or gestures that disparage opponents or could incite aggressive responses from batters following their dismissal. The captain acknowledged the breach and accepted the penalty imposed on Monday, two days after the match concluded. Under the Code of Conduct framework for Level 1 offenses, penalties range from an official reprimand up to half of a player's match fee, with one or two demerit points.

This marks the second disciplinary offense for Sana within a 24-month period, following a previous incident during a T20 International against Ireland in August 2025. The accumulation of demerit points contributes to her disciplinary record with the ICC and could have implications for future competitions.
