Pinterest teases a new ‘Restyle’ feature that lets you redesign your room with AI

Pinterest is testing a new AI-driven feature called Restyle that lets users redesign their rooms using photos of their own spaces. Launched in beta for users in the U.S. and Canada, Restyle is part of the company’s Pinterest Intelligence initiative and was previewed at the company’s Pinterest Presents event. The feature lets people upload or take a photo of a room and instruct the AI to add wall art, furniture, accessories or other decor, including items found in images saved on Pinterest. Users can also click on specific items in the photo to swap them out, erase them from the image, or make further edits. In addition to item-level edits, the AI can change environmental details such as lighting and paint color, and apply overall design themes like "bohemian," "industrial," "whimsical," or "dopamine." Pinterest said the underlying Pinterest Intelligence stack uses Nvidia Blackwell GPUs and Nvidia Dynamo together with open-source models and Pinterest-built systems. The company expects this platform to enhance the Pinterest Assistant’s visual search capabilities, convert search behavior into signals for AI discovery and shopping, and generally support more robust AI-driven experiences. Restyle is being offered as an early preview now and is scheduled to roll out more broadly next month. Pinterest also highlighted new visual search ads and app promotion tools for advertisers at the same event, positioning Restyle as a consumer-facing extension of its visual shopping and discovery efforts.
