Shaheen wins Democratic primary for New Hampshire House seat left open by Pappas

Shaheen, who has worked as a health technology entrepreneur, ran in the competitive Democratic contest that was described as bitter. She is also the daughter of U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), a fact that attracted attention during the campaign.

Her principal opponent in the primary was Maura Sullivan, who serves as vice chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party. The race between Shaheen and Sullivan was closely contested throughout the counting process.
