OnePlus starts making IoT devices in India

Optiemus Infracomm on Wednesday said Optiemus Electronics has partnered with OnePlus to locally manufacture premium Internet of Things (IoT) devices in India, as part of the company’s localisation initiative, Project Starlight, aimed at strengthening its presence in the Indian market. The collaboration includes the manufacturing of key IoT products such as truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds and wireless neckbands. The production has commenced with the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z3 at the Optiemus facility. These devices, known for their low latency and strong audio performance, will now be made in India for Indian consumers. Through this partnership, OnePlus aims to increase localisation at the bill-of-material (BOM) level, reduce costs, and build a more resilient supply chain. This development comes in addition to the company’s ongoing smartphone production in India.Optiemus Infracom shares were trading at Rs 695.50, up 13.27 per cent on the BSE on Wednesday. OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu said that for OnePlus, India has always been at the heart of the Chinese tech giant’s journey. “Our partnership with OEL to manufacture IoT products locally reflects our strong commitment to Project Starlight. This collaboration is not just about technology—it’s about empowering local communities, creating meaningful innovation, and bringing smarter, more connected experiences to our India community,” he added. Optiemus Group’s Executive Chairman Ashok Gupta the collaboration with OnePlus marks a significant step in this journey for the company. “We specialize in transforming ideas into reality, and this partnership empowers us to manufacture high-quality IoT products. Together, we will continue to explore new frontiers and remain committed to playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of electronics manufacturing in India,” he said.
