Al Jazeera’s visual analysis shows attacks on civilian infrastructure by both Russia and Ukraine have increased markedly since the 2022 invasion, with drone and air strikes now accounting for most operations. Data from ACLED and other organisations indicate a sharp rise in the share and number of strikes hitting homes, energy systems and public services on both sides through August 2026.
