Paul Christiano, a prominent AI alignment researcher, is joining the OpenAI Foundation board and will serve on its Safety and Security Committee, the company said Wednesday. Christiano has warned that rapid acceleration in AI capabilities could lead to catastrophic loss of control and said he does not believe the industry, including OpenAI, is currently reducing that risk to an acceptable level.
