The European Commission is expected to maintain its 2021 moratorium on oil and gas drilling in Arctic waters despite sustained lobbying by Norway to lift the ban, a Commission spokesperson told Euronews. The EU plans to publish an updated Northern Neighbourhood strategy on October 20 that is anticipated to keep the drilling restriction in place.
