The U.K.'s National Energy System Operator (NESO) says over £150 billion will be needed to upgrade the country's electricity transmission network to support a rapid expansion of wind and solar capacity. The programme would build roughly five times as much infrastructure by 2030 as was added in the previous three decades, including new pylons, subsea cables and converter stations.
