A federal appeals court ruled that states may treat prediction market platforms like gambling operations, dealing a setback to Kalshi. In a unanimous decision, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with Ohio and Tennessee and found Kalshi did not establish that its sports-event contracts are "swaps."
