EPA Power Plant Rollback To Add 123 Million More Tons of CO2

The U.S. EPA announced in September it will abandon its authority to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions from power plants under the Clean Air Act, effectively removing federal limits on carbon pollution from coal and gas generators. The agency’s own analysis says the change will lead to about 123 million additional metric tonnes of CO2 over the next decade and cut roughly $370 million in compliance costs for power plants.
