The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Examinations published a new handbook on Oct. 1, 2026 titled “The SEC Exam Handbook: A Practical Guide on Process and Engagement.” The handbook replaces the prior examination brochure and lays out the division’s examination process, aiming to give registrants more detail on what to expect during exams and to promote consistency across offices.
