India’s refineries have been operating above nameplate capacity — between about 105% and 108% utilization — over the past six months as domestic diesel demand rises and international fuel markets tighten amid the Middle East crisis, a senior executive at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) said at the APPEC conference. MRPL also said it will keep runs above 100% through March 2027 and highlighted its plant’s ability to process a wide range of crude grades.
