Plattsburgh, New York, held a public hearing on a proposed temporary land-use moratorium that would pause approvals for high-energy computing facilities, including cryptocurrency mining and AI data centers. The proposed rule would block projects that require 300 kilowatts or more for 12 months; the city council will revisit the measure on Sept. 17 and the mayor had not approved it as of Tuesday.
