The US will seek $45 million in security assistance for Ecuador and will provide a coast guard cutter plus five interceptor vessels, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced in Quito. Rubio also announced a separate $10 million initiative to fight illegal gold mining, gang recruitment and drug trafficking, and designated the Ecuador-based group Los Tiguerones as a "foreign terrorist organisation."
