Niger’s military government announced a reshuffle of its top brass after a failed mutiny late last month, naming General Mamane Sani Kiaou as head of the armed forces in place of General Moussa Salaou Barmou. The decree also elevated General Abdourahmane Abou Zataka to army chief of staff and, according to regional reporting, made General Ismael K Sidi Omar the new deputy chief of the general staff.
