Bolivian carrier VIVA has become the first telecom live on Iris, a new payments network built on an Avalanche Layer 1 that uses the dollar-backed stablecoin USDi for transaction settlement and to hold eligible operating reserves. Iris, led by former IBM Blockchain partner Jules Miller, lets operators plug existing identity, billing and distribution systems into dollar-denominated financial services without replacing their core telecom infrastructure.
