The European Banking Authority (EBA) has urged that crypto borrowing and lending be brought under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, telling the European Commission to consider adding intermediated crypto lending to MiCA’s regulated services. In its response to the Commission’s targeted consultation, the EBA also proposed requirements for firms that give clients access to decentralized finance (DeFi) lending protocols and recommended a cost-benefit analysis of legislative changes.
