Smithsonian leader Lonnie Bunch to retire as Trump targets institution

Lonnie Bunch III, the Smithsonian Institution’s secretary, said Tuesday he will step down from his post amid disputes with the Trump administration over how the museum complex presents American history. Bunch, 73, is the first Black leader of the Smithsonian and founded the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
