The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control designated Iranian crypto exchange BitBank, alleging it routed hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin from payments for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps between June and July. OFAC said the Hormuz Safe Marine Services Authority had been channeling the toll receipts through BitBank since June, and named additional entities and individuals tied to the exchange's technology and ownership.
