The European Central Bank is inviting online and mobile merchants in the euro area to apply by Oct. 27 to join a 12-month digital euro pilot slated to start in the second half of 2027. Selected firms will enable beta digital euro payments in remote checkout environments to test user experience, technical interoperability and operational processes.
