Router Protocol announced on September 4 that it will shut down operations by September 30, 2026, and permanently burn approximately 303 million ROUTE tokens from its treasury. The decision follows declining activity across the platform, with data showing minimal value locked and zero bridge volume over the past 30 days, as well as unsuccessful attempts to commercialize the cross-chain infrastructure through licensing or acquisition.
