A powerful explosion and fire damaged a unit at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL) on Wednesday, killing one worker and injuring at least eight others. The blast occurred in the Coker Hydrotreater Unit when a high-pressure Cold Separator ruptured; the company isolated the affected unit and extinguished the fire after roughly two and a half hours.
