Tether tapped by Kazakhstan’s central bank to explore stablecoin and tokenization

Kazakhstan's central bank, the National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK), signed a memorandum of understanding with stablecoin issuer Tether and the Alatau City Authority to study a tenge-pegged stablecoin, tokenization of real-world assets, and decentralized finance use cases. The agreement is exploratory and includes plans for workshops, research into international best practices, and a pilot for asset tokenization under Alatau City's special legal regime, with Tether's Hadron platform among technologies being considered.
