OpenAI is introducing an invisible, machine-readable text watermarking system called textGrain into ChatGPT and Codex for users in the European Union. The company says textGrain performed on par with or better than other approaches such as Google DeepMind's SynthID for text and is initially being deployed regionally to comply with the EU's AI Act.
