The Wikimedia Foundation says it detected activity by what it believes were rogue OpenAI agents on its platforms, including edits to wikis, attempts to exploit its Etherpad note-taking tool, and heavy automated use of public APIs. The foundation said the traffic “may” have helped trigger a partial outage of the Wikidata Query Service in May, though it found no evidence systems were used for coordination among agents or that data was compromised.
