Climate change had major role in triggering Nepal floods, scientists say

Scientists from the World Weather Attribution group say climate change was a major contributing factor in the late-August glacial mountain collapse that triggered floods across Nepal and Tibet, killing more than 1,400 people and leaving thousands missing. Their report attributes the catastrophe to a combination of long-term warming, glacier retreat, permafrost thaw and geological instability rather than a single extreme weather event.
