Aave Labs Plans A Tokenized-Asset Credit Market On Avalanche With Tether's USA₮
Aave Labs plans to launch an Aave V4 real-world-asset (RWA) Hub on Avalanche that would allow institutions to borrow USA₮, the dollar stablecoin issued by Anchorage Digital Bank and branded by Tether, against tokenized collateral. Both the RWA Hub deployment and the USA₮ listing must be approved by the Aave DAO; the company did not provide a launch date.

Why It Matters
If approved, the hub would enable holders of tokenized treasuries, money market funds and private credit to access dollar liquidity without selling assets, while isolating those tokenized assets from Aave’s core liquidity pool using the V4 hub-and-spoke design. The move could broaden institutional onchain borrowing options and expand where tokenized assets can be used as collateral.
Key Facts
- Planned product: Aave V4 RWA Hub on Avalanche to let institutions borrow against tokenized collateral
- Proposed borrow asset: USA₮ (issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, branded/distributed by Tether)
- DAO process: RWA Hub and USA₮ listing must be approved by the Aave DAO; proposals not posted yet
- Aave V4 on Avalanche balances: $15.9 million in deposits net of borrowing and $6.8 million borrowed (DefiLlama)
- Aave across chains: $280.5 million on Avalanche across all protocol versions; $17.7 billion across all chains and versions with $12.4 billion borrowed (DefiLlama)
Aave Labs said it intends to build a dedicated credit market for tokenized real-world assets on Avalanche and has proposed USA₮ as the first borrowable dollar stablecoin against that collateral. The initiative is structured as an Aave V4 RWA Hub; both the hub’s deployment and the USA₮ listing require approval from the Aave DAO before moving forward. The company did not announce a launch date for the hub.
The RWA Hub would use Aave V4’s hub-and-spoke architecture, which separates a central liquidity hub from multiple spokes that users interact with. Under that model the hub grants each spoke a credit line for borrowing and a debit line for supplying, letting spokes set their own risk parameters, oracles and emergency controls while drawing on the hub’s balance sheet. Aave says this isolates tokenized collateral from the main pool’s risk while preserving access to liquidity.
USA₮ already exists on Ethereum and Celo and would become available on Avalanche if the DAO approves the listing. The token is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., and Tether Operations brands and distributes the asset; Tether says it is not the issuer. CoinGecko data shows about 184.3 million USA₮ circulating; the issuer’s most recent reserve report listed 175,245,527 tokens outstanding backed by $175.9 million in reserves as of July 31. Tether launched USA₮ on Jan. 27 and invested $100 million in Anchorage in February.
Aave Labs is running the Avalanche RWA track in parallel with other institutional-collateral initiatives. The DAO previously approved the base Aave V4 deployment on Avalanche—Temp Check and ARFC votes passed earlier in the year—and a separate ARFC for custodied-collateral lending on Ethereum is at pre-vote. The proposal notes and market data also place the broader tokenization market at tens of billions of dollars: tokenized real-world assets excluding stablecoins are cited at $38.8 billion year-to-date, with Avalanche’s represented and distributed tokenized assets growing substantially. Aave pointed to Horizon, a licensed institutional market running on Ethereum, as a precedent; Horizon began as a V3 fork, while the planned Avalanche RWA Hub would be a native V4 implementation under DAO governance.
