Corridor raises $25M seed to build a health benefits brokerage for SMBs

Why It Matters

Small-business accounts typically generate lower commissions and receive less attention from traditional brokerages despite similar administrative effort; Corridor’s AI-driven approach aims to lower those friction costs and make benefits management more accessible to SMBs. The new funding will support the company ahead of the Q4 enrollment season, when most small businesses select health plans.

Key Facts

  • Funding amount: $25 million seed
  • Lead investor: Bain Capital Ventures
  • Other investors: BoxGroup; executives from OpenAI, Scale AI, and Ramp
  • Founders / key team: Jackson Wagner, Nikhil Aggarwal, Eric Qian, Jason Dong (launched together)
  • Company focus: Health benefits brokerage for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs)

Corridor is building an AI-assisted health benefits brokerage focused on small businesses, an area its founders say is frequently underserved by traditional brokerages because small accounts bring lower commissions despite demanding comparable time. The startup pairs human advisors with background AI agents that handle administrative work such as verifying whether a doctor is in a patient’s plan network, scheduling care, and updating providers with insurance information. The company’s origin traces back to Jackson Wagner, who left his product lead role at Scale AI in July 2022 after a running accident exposed gaps in care coordination. Wagner pursued a master’s in computer science and electrical engineering at UC Berkeley, joined Build Robotics in 2023, and worked with former Scale AI colleague Eric Qian on Capernaum AI, a clinical agent focused on musculoskeletal and chronic pain care. Corridor formed when Nikhil Aggarwal, formerly a partner at Cold Start along with Jason Dong, saw broader potential and the four founders launched the brokerage together. Corridor announced a $25 million seed round led by Bain Capital Ventures, with participation from BoxGroup and individual investors including executives from OpenAI, Scale AI, and Ramp. The startup says its product is positioned to serve every employee and management team as a “concierge for all things healthcare,” and it is preparing for the fourth quarter, which it notes is when roughly 80% of small businesses choose health plans. The company enters a market that includes other startups such as Ignition Benefits and Nava Benefits. Corridor’s stated goal is to build trust by delivering on a simple promise to the businesses and employees it serves; the new capital is intended to scale its platform and operations in advance of the key Q4 enrollment period.
