Google’s new ‘CC’ is an AI agent that helps families run their households

Google is testing a new family-focused iteration of its AI agent CC, expanding the tool’s remit from individual productivity briefings to household coordination. The agent is designed to gather relevant emails, calendar entries, chats and tasks — either forwarded to CCs dedicated email address or shared automatically — and use that information to keep a shared calendar and task list current. CC can be set to automatically ingest messages from selected senders such as schools, travel providers, sports teams or clubs; the agent will also propose additional senders to add on a weekly basis. Once it has event or appointment information, CC can add items to a shared calendar or task list so family members see important dates like orthodontist visits or teacher workdays without manual entry. Beyond scheduling, Google says CC can perform specific household tasks: filling out permission slips or activity registration PDFs, generating school-supply or grocery shopping lists, drafting weekly meal plans, estimating drive times between activities, and creating shared Docs or Sheets. The agent will ask for missing details when needed and store updates in a group memory to improve future assistance. Technically, CC runs in an isolated cloud environment using Googles Gemini model and the companys agent framework named Antigravity. The current experiment is limited to U.S. adults with personal Gmail accounts and allows up to six family members to share and collaborate with the agent. Google acknowledges this restriction excludes many older minors and users on school-managed accounts, which are common conduits for school-related communications. Google is rolling the update out by inviting existing CC users to upgrade via email in the coming days, while new users can sign a waitlist to request access. The move aligns CC with other startups targeting parental and family use cases, as companies explore how agentic AI can fit into everyday household workflows.
