Man Utd salvage Fulham draw as pressure mounts on Carrick

Manchester United recovered a stoppage-time point at Craven Cottage as Matheus Cunha's long-range attempt took a decisive deflection off David Affengruber to level the match 1-1. United had trailed after a second-half own goal by Lisandro Martinez, who inadvertently steered a clearance into his own net following a save from Fulham goalkeeper Senne Lammens after Calvin Bassey's strike.

The game produced few moments of comfort for interim-turned-permanent manager Michael Carrick, whose side again struggled to impose themselves. United enjoyed chances earlier — Bruno Fernandes set up a strike that forced a strong save, and Fernandes himself saw a powerful effort rebound off the post — but defensive lapses and a lack of cutting edge left them exposed for much of the afternoon.

Fulham pressed repeatedly, with Gonzalo Garcia and Josh King both carving openings that tested United's defence and goalkeeper Senne Lammens making several important interventions for the hosts. Fulham threatened late on as well, with Bernd Leno denying Bryan Mbeumo and Cunha before United finally grabbed an equaliser.

The draw leaves Carrick under intensified criticism after a run that includes defeats to Manchester City and Brighton; United have lost three of their first seven matches in all competitions this season.
