Meta is making Muse more powerful and will let you video chat with it, too

Meta is rapidly expanding the capabilities and interaction modes for its Muse AI agent with a package of new features announced by the company. One notable change gives each Muse agent an email address it can use to complete tasks; users will also be able to correspond with their agents via those addresses. The company is likewise updating the recently released Muse Mac app so the agent can operate using a user’s computer. Beyond email and desktop access, Meta is introducing live video calling with Muse. Until now, Muse interactions were primarily text-based; the forthcoming feature will let users converse with a live avatar. Meta says the avatar’s voice will be adjustable, and it has developed a Muse Realtime Avatar model intended to govern how avatars move during these video interactions. The company has already provided options to customize how Muse avatars look, and the new controls extend that personalization to audio and motion. Meta also indicated plans to bring Muse to its smart glasses within months, enabling users to ask the agent about what they’re viewing through the device. Muse launched earlier this month and has seen strong early traction, including topping App Store charts and reportedly outpacing mobile downloads of ChatGPT during its first 12 days, according to reporting by The Verge. Meta’s additions appear designed to expand Muse’s role from a chat-based assistant into a multi-modal agent that can interact over email, on desktops, in live video, and eventually through wearable hardware.
