Meta launches enterprise AI platform, hires MongoDB CEO to lead new initiative

Meta announced on September 28, 2026, that it is launching Meta Enterprise Platform, a business-focused effort to package the company’s AI stack for corporate customers and developers. The initiative is intended to adapt Meta’s existing models and agent technologies into deployable products and services for organizations.

To lead the project, Meta hired Chirantan “CJ” Desai, who until the announcement served as CEO of database vendor MongoDB. Meta said the enterprise platform will bring components such as Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code to businesses and developer audiences. Muse, Meta’s personal AI assistant, debuted earlier in September and performs tasks like drafting emails and booking travel for users.

Desai said the platform will concentrate on converting Meta’s AI capabilities into tools companies can use to innovate, scale and operate their businesses. Meta framed the effort as part of a broader shift driven by AI that will affect how organizations serve customers and run operations.

MongoDB reacted to Desai’s departure by naming Dev Ittycheria as interim chief executive while the board searches for a permanent replacement; MongoDB’s shares fell by more than 17% on the news. Meta positioned the launch as a potential path to realize returns on its substantial AI investments by expanding into enterprise markets.
