World Rolls Out Money App as Key Features Remain Country-Limited
Tools for Humanity has started releasing World Money, a self-custodial financial app, in over 150 countries. The app combines stablecoin balances, virtual accounts, trading, global payments, Morpho-powered lending (Earn), and Mini Apps, but which features are available and which third-party providers are used vary by jurisdiction.
Why It Matters
The launch brings a mix of onchain payments, custodial-adjacent bank rails and lending programs into a single self-custodial interface, highlighting tensions between global product ambitions and local regulatory, banking and provider constraints. Users must navigate differing eligibility, KYC requirements and localized feature sets while retaining sole responsibility for account access and keys.
Key Facts
- Rollout scope: More than 150 countries
- App features: Stablecoin balances, global payments, virtual accounts, trading, yield programs, Mini Apps, username transfers, portfolio tracking, price alerts
- Supported currencies: Balances across eight currencies
- Earn provider: Morpho-powered onchain lending
- Virtual account pilot and expansions: Originally piloted in the U.S.; expanded to Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and countries in Latin America (announced December 2025)
Tools for Humanity has begun distributing World Money, a self-custodial financial app that bundles stablecoin holdings, virtual bank-like accounts, payments, trading, yield programs and a Mini Apps ecosystem. Users of the existing World App and World ID App can migrate credentials into World Money, which supports balances across eight currencies and includes features such as username-based transfers, portfolio tracking and price alerts. The platform also lists Mini Apps including Kalshi, Credit and Morpho.
Access to specific features varies by country and may be governed by third-party provider terms. Bridge-linked virtual accounts are only available in supported regions and require know-your-customer (KYC) checks. In the U.S., the rollout has started to incorporate Stripe’s Apple Pay funding flow, and World lists a Kalshi Mini App for event-contract trading. World cautions that eligibility and feature availability differ by jurisdiction.
World’s virtual-account mechanism separates the bank-account rail from the self-custodial wallet. For U.S. dollar virtual accounts, Lead Bank receives ACH transfers, Bridge converts those funds to USDC, and the resulting stablecoins are deposited into the user’s World Wallet on World Chain. Those virtual accounts can accept paycheck and employer deposits but do not support person-to-person bank transfers. In Argentina, Colombia and Mexico, local virtual accounts are provided by Ripio and convert local currency into supported digital assets; those Ripio accounts do not accept paycheck or employer deposits. Creating a virtual account requires a KYC review.
The app’s Earn feature routes eligible assets — World’s WLD token, USDC, wrapped ether and wrapped bitcoin among them — into onchain lending protocols selected by Morpho. Displayed annual yields are variable and withdrawals may be delayed due to onchain liquidity and protocol conditions. World’s documentation notes the presence of smart-contract and market risks, and promotional boosts may apply for World ID–verified users on the first 1,000 WLD and 1,000 USDC deposited. Tools for Humanity emphasizes that World Money is not a bank: digital assets held in the app are not government-insured, investing and Earn programs can lose principal, and the company cannot access or reset a user’s password or passkey if the user loses their login methods.
