Joby Aviation’s 3,100-mile autonomous flight signals its push beyond electric air taxis

Joby Aviation said an aircraft fitted with its autonomy software completed a nonstop, fully autonomous journey of more than 3,100 miles across the United States, with remote supervision from the company and a pilot onboard for regulatory compliance. The company described the trip as the first-ever autonomous flight across the U.S. and said the aircraft will return to the West Coast with planned stops in cities including Louisville and Salt Lake City.
