Spotify expands audiobooks to over 180 markets
Spotify said it will expand its audiobook offering to more than 180 markets across Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, with a rollout beginning immediately and continuing over the coming months. The company said the catalogue for the new markets includes over 350,000 titles in more than 120 languages, bringing audiobook access to over 750 million users.

Why It Matters
The expansion broadens Spotify's reach in spoken-word content and positions the company to compete more directly with audiobook specialists and other streaming services across many non-English markets. It also scales Spotify's existing audiobook business, which the company says has shown user and revenue growth since launch.

Spotify announced a global expansion of its audiobook service, extending availability to more than 180 markets across Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The company said the rollout begins immediately and will continue into the coming months, making audiobooks accessible to over 750 million Spotify users.
For the newly added markets Spotify is offering a catalogue of more than 350,000 titles and has broadened its language coverage to exceed 120 languages. The company highlighted Spain as an example, where users will find over 45,000 Spanish-language titles at launch. Spotify said it is collaborating with more than 300 publishers worldwide, including Planeta and Mondadori, to increase localised offerings.
Spotify described several purchase and subscription options for audiobooks. In eligible countries — including Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Poland, Chile, Norway and Peru — Premium subscribers can listen to 12 hours of audiobooks. The platform also offers a standalone Audiobook+ subscription with a 15-hour allowance, plus the option to buy individual titles. Spotify plans to add an Audiobook+ add-on for student plans in select regions starting in November.
Since launching last year, Audiobook+ has surpassed 1 million subscribers and generated over $100 million in annual recurring revenue, the company said. Spotify also highlighted product features and usage trends: a Page Match feature introduced in February that matches a scanned physical book page to the corresponding audiobook location now has 1 million monthly users; monthly audiobook listeners grew by 40% year-over-year and listening hours rose by 30%. Spotify has added Audiobook Charts, an AI-based tool for authors using ElevenLabs models to create audiobooks, and is experimenting with physical book sales in select markets such as the U.S. and U.K.
